Convocation of the City Council
Notice is hereby given to the citizenry that the Mamoiada City Council has been convened for March 8, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.
The session will be held at the Conference Room of the Museum of Mediterranean Masks.
Conferring the “Mamuthone and Issohadore ad Honorem” honor.
During the session, the highest Mamoiadine honor, “Mamuthone e Issohadore ad Honorem,” will be conferred on the great tenor Francesco Demuro.
After the inevitable postponement that took place in August and the succession of other impractical dates, we finally have the privilege of being able to award this prestigious recognition to one of the most important Sardinian artists on the international opera scene.
Francesco Demuro
Francesco Demuro, born in Porto Torres on Jan. 6, 1978, began his career at a very young age as a singer-songwriter in guitar singing, quickly gaining great appreciation throughout Sardinia.
He then undertook singing studies at the Sassari Conservatory and then in Cagliari. At the age of 29 he made his debut as a leading man at the Teatro Regio in Parma. From that moment his career knew a rapid international affirmation that led him, only two years later, to make his debut in the United States with the opera La Traviata.
Numerous debuts followed in the world’s leading theaters, from Tokyo to Hamburg, Athens to New York, solidifying his place among the most highly regarded tenors on the contemporary opera scene.
A recognition of Sardinian excellence
The awarding of the Mamuthone and Issohadore ad Honorem honor represents a gesture of great symbolic value to the Mamoiadine community.
Through this award, it is intended to pay tribute to an artist whose talent and international career brings to the world the honor and culture of Sardinia, the land of his roots.
